About
Rigorous, useful research on the platform economy.
We combine causal inference, economic theory, and close attention to how real platforms are designed to explain how digital markets work — and how they might work better.
Mission
Digital platforms now mediate how we work, travel, shop, and connect. Platform Research exists to understand the mechanisms behind that shift: the design choices, incentives, and institutions that determine who benefits from platforms and who bears their costs. Our aim is research that meets the standards of leading management and economics journals while remaining legible to the people who build and regulate platforms.
Approach
We favor identification-driven empirical designs — natural experiments, staggered difference-in-differences, event studies, and synthetic controls — paired with theory that takes platform design seriously. Where possible we work with platform data and field settings, so that findings speak to concrete decisions rather than abstractions.
